Spinal disorders have a complex pathogenesis, with lifestyle, psychological and social influences playing a role in their development and manifestation, in addition to genetic and congenital factors. Their complexity makes it important to carry out a wide range of investigations, looking beyond anatomical factors to behavioural, lifestyle and psychological influences, in order to an achieve effective and personalised treatment.
Our outpatient care focuses on three main areas:
- 1.) supporting the management of spinal disorders and preventing deterioration;
- 2.) screening and psychological support and preparation before medical interventions;
- 3.) therapy and rehabilitation support for chronic pain patients.
Our institute has a multi-stage psychological screening system, so that people who come to us can meet our questionnaires from the beginning of the care process. In these cases, the main aim of the assessments is to ensure the best possible results and the comfort of our patients during the treatment period.
Anyone can enrol on our surgical preparation programme, as reducing the stress of surgery generally improves the patient's sense of comfort with medical procedures and in many cases has a beneficial effect on treatment outcomes.
After the operation, our psychologists are at the disposal of our patients, as during the rehabilitation period there may be inhibiting factors (e.g. fear of movement) that hinder successful recovery.
A wide range of psychotherapeutic treatment options are available at our outpatient clinic, in addition to pharmacotherapeutic (psychiatric) support. You can find out about the publicly funded treatments available at the clinic in the "Announced programmes" section.
