    Psychological workgroup

Since the beginning of the National Center for Spine Disorders, psychological and psychiatric professional activity has been an integral part of complex patient care. Currently, from the beginning of the examination process, through curative interventions, to the end of the rehabilitation period, our highly qualified professionals are at the disposal of our patients.

Our psychology team's tasks include pre-operative assessment and risk reduction, with the aim of ensuring that medical treatment is as expected, while maintaining the highest possible level of comfort. If any factors are identified that may negatively affect the outcome of the surgery or the hospital stay (e.g. intense stress or fear, depression, pain sensitivity, etc.), we can offer our patients a range of solutions available in our outpatient clinics.

For our patients in inpatient care, we provide psychological support and patient guidance to help make the recovery process predictable and manageable. After hospitalisation, our professionals remain available to deal with recovery issues to ensure a smooth return to personal life.

In addition to supporting surgical work, a wide range of psychotherapy programmes and specialist psychiatric care are available in our outpatient clinic. Therapy sessions for people with chronic pain are regularly organised. Methods used include Mindfulness-based stress management techniques, Autogenic training relaxation, Cognitive-behavioural approach to pain management, Cognitive-behavioural approach to sleep disorder management, Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Biofeedback and Group Analytic Psychotherapy.

In addition to patient care tasks, our team is involved in the training of psychology students and provides a permanent workshop for chronic spinal pain research.
