Abdominal ultrasound is used to examine all organs from the diaphragm to the pelvic bone that includes the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas and spleen as well as the kidneys and abdominal arteries. The condition of the intestinal wall can be determined and in the pelvic area, the bladder, uterus, ovaries and the prostate also examined.
Disorders may be diagnosed from the structural changes and the circulation of blood observed in the organs. Advance Preparation
The examination requires an empty stomach and a full bladder. You should not eat anything 6 hours prior to the examination and do not void before your examination.The Porcedure
You will need to take off your clothes from the waist up then lie down on your back on the examining table. In order to better see the organs, you will be asked to first turn onto one side then onto the other and take a deep breath and hold it a few times. Contraindications
No contraindications. However, should you arrive with a full stomach or an empty bladder, we will not be able to perform the examination or, if we do, the results obtained may be of limited value.
You will receive a written report of the results.
